Bareos

Enterprise Level Backup Solution

Bareos (Backup Archiving Recovery Open Sourced) is a cross-network Open Source backup solution (licensed under AGPLv3) that preserves, archives, and recovers data from all major operating systems. The client-server backup solution consists of several components which communicate with each other securely over the network: the Bareos Director, one or more Storage Daemons, and the File Daemons installed on the clients to be backed up.

Due to this modular design, Bareos is scalable—from single computer systems (where all components run on one machine) to large infrastructures with hundreds of computers (even in different geographies).

Why we use Bareos?

Bareos can do backup to disk and tape drives as well as tape libraries.

In addition to the standard backup strategies of full, incremental, and differential backups, Bareos also provides migrations, copies, virtual full backups, and deduplication using basic tasks. It is possible to backup to the cloud utilizing migrations.

The Bareos backup solution is installed on all fully managed servers on our infrastructure. Customers’ data is housed in two EU-based datacenters on a safe and redundant backup system. Data that has been backed up is GDPR compliant.
