OMGcommerce is biggest e-commerce conference in south-east Europe. It is its 5th edition, and this year was hosted in Technological Park Zagreb, fantastic venue, now the home of great startups and young technological companies. This year topic was global trends in e-commerce, new payment methods, GDPR off course, and much more. Organized by Netokracija, it was one more conference very well worth attending.
Netokracija has been organized one more fantastic conference. We have attended OMGconnference few times in the last couple of years, and it is always fun attending. Lectures were great, it is well moderated and it was, as always very fun and inspiring to be there. Venue, Technological Park Zagreb, where it was located, was most exciting part of conference. Literally hundreds of small companies, located in small "houses", one of Zagreb Fair's hall. From software, to even hardware developers, we have even seen small electronic laboratory and electronic hardware production micro-factory. They even have street signs :-)
We should not forget that conference is free for all, you only need to register and reserve your seat. And yes, food during the conference is also free thanks to pauza.hr.
Regarding conference, one of an inevitable topic is GDPR, and how to prepare for one. Since ( in time of writing), at least in Croatia, there is no clear path, or usable template how to become GDPR compliant. Yes, we have a ton of conferences and lectures lately how to prepare and be compliant with GDPR, but none of them is providing some template or checklist for certain industry, so thematic conferences like this, who are providing insight and know-how about GDPR for e-commerce companies is fantastic. We heard a lot about GDPR from Dijana Kladar from eCommerce Croatia, and from Nikola Zubalj form MailPlus Adria.
There was a great lecture from Rein Suijker of Ecommerce Foundation, who talked about Maximizing Cross-border business, with great analogies, and some tiny details that can make difference between success and complete failure on some markets. For example, French do not believe webshop unless it is truly French one. French language, French physical address, Frenchy payment gateway, if you do not have that, forget doing online business in France. A similar thing is in the Netherlands if you could not figure out how you can have 24-hour delivery, forget doing business in the Netherlands. You also need to have free returns in Germany, the English language is not same in UK and USA, and so on. Those things, in fact, are important, and yes, different markets have different rules, and we agree that this is things that such conferences must cover.
We also enjoy a lot lectures from Marcel Majsan from eCommerce Croatia, who explains why now is the right moment for starting online sales, and from Vanja Bunjevac from Inchoo about data-driven marketing.
You can find whole agenda here and unfortunately, we are not aware of recorded videos that can be viewed online to watch later.
OMGcommerce is THE conference for e-commerce in this part of EU, and if you are in the e-commerce business, you should attend it in future. We certainly will.
