Senior Linux sysadmin

Job requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Linux system maintenance (we appreciate internships / independent projects / student work)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in working with the AWS (with very good knowledge of EC2, auto scaling, RDS, CodeDeploy, IAM, CloudWatch, Route53, ELB, S3, and EFS components)

Technical skills:

Excellent knowledge of…

    • GNU/Linux operating system (administration and configuration of the OS, services, network, firewall)
    • web stack components (Apache, Nginx, HAProxy, PHP, Node.js …)
    • MySQL and PostgreSQL relational DB systems
    • Bash or Python scripting language (for automating repetitive tasks and development of internal tools)

Very good knowledge of…

    • CI/CD (preferably GitLab)
    • Network technologies (VPN, vlan, routing, switching …)
    • Some of the configuration management and infrastructure as a code tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation…)
    • Clustering and replication (Pacemaker, GlusterFS, Elasticsearch, Redis replication, MySQL/PostgreSQL replication…)
    • System diagnostics and solving technical problems using tools such as Strace, Wireshark, Sysdig…
    • Some of the monitoring tools (Nagios, Icinga, TICK stack, Prometheus, Grafana…)
    • Working with containers and Kubernetes
    • Working with Hashicorp tools (Consul, Nomad, and Vault)

Other skills:

  • Very good knowledge of English and Croatian, both in speech and writing
  • Independence in work, self-organization, and prioritization of tasks
  • Very good time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in on-call rotations
  • Driver’s license (category B)

Things you’ll be working on:

  • Monitor, maintain and improve existing projects
  • Design infrastructures for new projects
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Pulumi, and Puppet
  • Automate repetitive tasks
  • Explore new technologies for fun and possible usage in the future

Position details:

  • Open until filled
  • Fixed-term or full-term employment (with a prior trial period) or a student contract (if you’re still attending college)

  • Salary range: 2.000 – 4.000 (EUR brutto 1)
